WE ARE HIRING FOR ONE OF OUR CLIENTS WHICH IS AN ESTEEMED ORGANIZATION IN THE SPECIALTY CHEMICALS SECTOR. THEY ARE A MANUFACTURER AND SUPPLIER OF INDUSTRIAL CHEMICALS SUCH AS LUBRICANTS, PAINTS, INKS, COATINGS, POLYMERS, PIGMENTS, AGROCHEMICALS, ETC.

Designation: Global R&D Head (Corporate)
Experience Required: 25+ years
Location: Navi Mumbai, Kopar Khairane
Qualification: Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field

Job Role:

The role of an R&D Head in the chemical industry is crucial for driving innovation, product development, and improving manufacturing processes. The R&D Head is responsible for overseeing research activities, coordinating development projects, and ensuring that new products or solutions meet industry standards, regulations, and market needs.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research Strategy Development:

• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for research and development in alignment with the company’s overall business goals.
• Identify and prioritize key areas for innovation, including new product development, process optimization, and sustainability initiatives.

2. Leadership & Team Management:

• Lead a team of scientists, engineers, and R&D staff, providing direction and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure efficient project execution.
• Oversee training and development to ensure the team stays at the forefront of industry trends and technology.

3. Innovation and Product Development:

• Lead the development of new chemical products, formulations, and technologies.
• Oversee the scale-up process from laboratory research to pilot-scale and full-scale production.
• Ensure that products meet quality, safety, and environmental standards.
• Conduct feasibility studies, prototype testing, and market research to evaluate the commercial potential of new products.

4. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure all R&D projects comply with regulatory requirements, including safety, environmental, and health standards.
• Stay updated with changes in local and international regulations and integrate them into R&D processes.
• Ensure adherence to health and safety protocols in all laboratory and production activities.

5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams such as production, marketing, and quality assurance to ensure smooth product development cycles.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including universities, research institutions, and industry partners, to advance research efforts.
• Engage with customers to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions.

6. Technology and Process Optimization:

• Focus on continuous improvement of existing chemical processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.
• Integrate new technologies and innovations to improve production processes, product quality, and sustainability.

7. Reporting and Documentation:

• Prepare regular progress reports, including project status, risks, and outcomes for senior management.
• Maintain thorough documentation of research processes, patents, and intellectual property.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

1. Technical Expertise:

• Strong background in chemical engineering, chemistry, or related fields, with deep knowledge of chemical processes, materials science, and manufacturing techniques.
• Expertise in product development, process engineering, or material science specific to the chemical industry.

2. Leadership & Management:

• Proven leadership experience, with a track record of managing R&D teams, guiding complex projects, and delivering results within budget and timelines.
• Strong project management skills, including resource allocation, budget management, and scheduling.

3. Innovation & Problem-Solving:

• Ability to think creatively and drive the development of innovative solutions.
• Strong problem-solving skills, especially when addressing challenges related to scaling up lab-based findings to commercial production.

4. Communication Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting to management and stakeholders, as well as for presenting findings and recommendations.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.

5. Regulatory Knowledge:

• In-depth understanding of industry standards, regulations (e.g., REACH, OSHA), and safety practices.
• Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and green chemistry principles.
